TGIF Edition
A HARO Masterclass you should know about, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, financial experts & more
Hey guys. It’s Friday. We are SO CLOSE to the weekend.
First of all, anyone feeling the effects of Mercury Retrograde? I ALWAYS try to ignore that and am like, “yeah whatever” when it comes around. But then of course things have happened that are very on point with the madness. My computer has been giving me the wheel of death way more than usual. I mixed up a meeting time the other day. A coworker and I were supposed to do a Google Meet and it wouldn’t let him in so we tried Zoom. It wouldn’t let him in that and then I said, “Restart your computer” and it wouldn’t let him restart. My acupuncturist had 2 of her iPads die that she uses to play music in office. Blah Blah Blah. Anyway, let’s hope this is the last of it. I got a taste, I get it. Move on Mercury. :-p
HARO Masterclass
Who uses Help-A-Reporter-Out, aka HARO? I bet a lot of you. And if you’re not, it’s a great tool for connecting with journalists. In a nutshell, it’s a platform where journalists, like myself, post about sources they are in need of and publicists and brands can answer the pitches. I use it all the time.
A colleague is hosting an amazing Masterclass coming up that I may make a guest appearance in. ;-) He’ll walk you through signing up on the platform. He’ll share his templates for creating a successful response, will be helping you navigate upping your chances of getting your sources selected, will help you get linkbacks for clients and will talk about how to track coverage afterwards to figure out if your sources’ quotes were used. It’s ALL about HARO.
Chris will be putting on a live HARO workshop teaching you all of his secrets. And he’s agreed to give my audience a 50% discount. The live workshop kicks off on September 22nd at 4pm (8am Pacific, 11am Eastern). If you can’t make it live, you can access it via the recordings.
Chris is the founder of Life Upswing, a personal finance blog. He has read and watched everything out there on HARO and began testing different strategies. After landing massive links, he kept tweaking his system until he had it down.

Top Tier Consulting
Thank you all (again) for such a warm welcome to my new joint venture with fellow writer Jill Schildhouse. We’ve had some great sessions helping publicists do everything from discover the right writers to work with, build and maintain those relationships, stand out in a writers inbox, as well as have been helping them perfect their pitches alongside us, put together the best media events and more.
In addition, we’re excited to launch our Substack where we’ll be offering weekly tips and best practices. As two writers with a combined 37 years in the industry, we’re treating this as we would any other article and are charging a nominal fee to join but of course there are lots of perks along the way. Our founders members, for instance, get access to monthly Ask us Anything Q&As where we’ll Zoom and answer any questions that came up for you that month. We’re building a community and are very excited to be able to have you on this journey with us. :-)
