Sourcing Needs: MDs to talk office germs, Swedish death cleaning, doctor who train other doctors and more
Plus the ONE workshop to take if you're serious about perfecting your pitches
Hi all. Happy Wednesday.
Diving right in with some sourcing needs this week. But first, a quick announcement:
If you’re a publicist who sends pitches, you’re not going to want to miss this group workshop
Jill Schildhouse and I co-run Top Tier Consulting, in which we offer workshops and a Substack newsletter aimed at helping publicists to land to land top tier coverage and better pitch writers. Well, our most popular 1:1 session of all time: Pitch Perfecting Session has been so in demand lately that we decided to offer it in a more accessible and affordable group format.
Here are the details. Would love to see you there!
The details: Ready to take your pitches to the next level? Or are you wondering why certain pitches aren’t getting much response? Learn how to take your emails from, “Here’s a client I represent,” to “Here’s a story idea you can’t possibly turn down.” Between the two of us, we receive thousands of pitches per week (sometimes a thousand a day during gift guide season), so we have many tips — and examples — of what works and what doesn’t. From coming up with the perfect email subject line to improve your open rates to sealing the deal with your closing remarks, your word choices matter throughout the entire pitch. We’ll help you perfect them.
Format: 1-hour workshop via Zoom with Jill and Nicole includes:
a formal presentation of our best pitch-perfecting tips:
subject line best practices
body of email best practices
tips to help your pitches stand out in busy writers’ inboxes
follow-up best practices (yes, we encourage you to follow up, and we’ll show you the most effective way to do so)
Q&A session
you will walk away with your questions answered (if we have to stay on a little longer, we’re happy to do so)
Date: Thursday, March 21 at 12 pm PST/3 pm EST
Pricing: $199 per person for Top Tier Paid Subscribers; $259 per person for Free Subscribers (prepayment is required to hold your slot)
(Note to free subscribers: The TTC annual subscription fee is only $99 — so, upgrading would save you $60 on this workshop, PLUS you’d get access to ALL our paid content — including our vast archive of content — and monthly Top Tier Talks for just $39 more for the year.)

Onto sourcing needs for this week

Need to talk to bosses who are in charge of managing other physicians, to hear about stories of young doctors doing something unexpected to impress them. Would love to connect to hear who has someone interesting for this.
Per my editor on the types of stories we’re looking for here:
Needs to feel surprising and unique. The point of this is other doctors read this and think wow that's really smart/interesting/useful. So no "she was assertive but also showed a lot of empathy." More like "she figured out a way to triage ER patients faster and with fewer errors and she came up with it all by herself." Bonus points if we get the emotional response in there. Basically we're capturing the unique moment when a Master realizes their padawan is going to be a great Jedi.
