Plus, a resource to help make getting your clients on podcasts a breeze + everything you need to know about affiliate marketing for gift guide pitching in 2024
Happy Wednesday all!
Are we still calling it Hump Day these days? I haven’t actually heard that phrase in a long time. Anyway, what’s going on with everyone? Kiddos back to school? Hope that’s going well.
In non-work related news, I officially have a TODDLER, which is pretty crazy to wrap my head around. He’s doing a lot of furniture walking and we haven’t baby proofed ANYTHING other than those plug covers in the wall outlets so if anyone has any hot tips on things I need to do (very much in the market for a stairs gate that doesn’t ruin your wall, for instance), would love some recommendations!
I have a bunch of stuff I’m sourcing for right now but first wanted to hop in with a few quick announcements.
Are you looking to get your clients on podcasts? You’ll definitely want to check out this resource!

It’s time to start pitching for Holiday Gift Guide Season. Are you up on the latest and greatest in affiliate marketing in order to have your clients properly prepped?
Jill Schildhouse and I recently teamed up with affiliate marketing guru Sarah Karger to host a workshop all about the latest and greatest in affiliate marketing just in time for holiday gift guide pitching this season.
We spent 30 minutes walking through a comprehensive powerpoint presentation, and then tackled a ton of questions publicists had on this topic for the remainder of the hour.
We discussed:
The latest platforms and which ones editors care about the most these days (and which MAJOR platform is sunsetting!)
What editors are focusing on this holiday season
How to mention that a client is on an affiliate platform in a pitch: What essential information to include and how to position it
How to get affiliate links in the hands of influencers this holiday season
Is it a deal breaker if my client isn’t signed up with an affiliate program?
How do I contact e-commerce writers/editors to get my clients into these gift guides?
When it comes to commission percentages, what gets an editor/writer’s attention?
And much, much more.
If you missed it, don’t worry … we’re selling the recording so you can get caught up!
Rate: $49 for Paid TTC Substack Subscribers; $99 for Free TTC Subscribers

What I’m sourcing for right now
AARP
For a print cover story on “Our Senses As We Age,” I am looking for experts and real life seniors to feature:
As we get older, one of the things that causes us to withdraw from the world is the diminution of our senses. In most cases, our senses are taken from us slowly, often in ways we don’t notice until the changes begin to impact our lives. For example,
Sight: First seeing far away gets harder. Then seeing up close. Then seeing in low light. And the next thing you know, we’re afraid to drive at night.
Hearing: Hearing loss is one of the hardest things to detect within ourselves. And issues like tinnitus can complicate our hearing as well.
Taste and Smell: I think these get lumped together, but they play a huge role in our ability to enjoy life. It’s not uncommon for people with taste/smell issues to suffer from depression.
Touch: We don’t think about it that much, but touch is a sense that also diminishes with age. (Interestingly, there’s data about touch screens not working for older people; their fingers are too dry, and so touch screens don’t respond to them the way they respond to younger people.)
Looking for experts to weigh in on what happens with each of these senses as we get older?
Are there ways to protect, and even improve, these senses? (For example, can touching different textures help us to protect our sensitivity? Does eating the same foods every week reduce our ability to taste differences? Is there an exercise I can do to hold on to my ability to hear, like sitting in a quiet room and trying to detect faint sounds?)
Also looking for people ages 50 and up to talk about their experiences with losing these senses and how that has affected them and their everyday life.
Ways to help your grandkids feel more confident. (Not commenting on their eating habits, appearance -- stuff that can be really hurtful for kiddos.) - Looking for experts to weigh in on this and would be open to real life examples from people who have had success in doing this with their own grandkids as well
GREAT PET CARE
Looking for veterinarians to talk about:
-A new study that links probiotics to helping dogs lose weight
-Updated vaccine guidelines for pet parents: That latest and greatest and how these could change in the future
PEOPLE
Looking for stories in the breast cancer space: The latest trends, personal stories that people would like to share. Open to ideas.

WEB MD/MEDSCAPE
Looking for some interesting health trends to feature, the latest in certain health technologies, etc. From AI to new drug launches, stem cell treatments and robot assisted surgeries, what are your client talking about in these spaces that I can deep dive into?
Looking for some trends in the medical field and stories about doctor doing interesting things or new technologies/innovations that are impacting how they do things. In the past have done some stories on doctors who double as winemakers, how medical texting is replacing pagers in the hospital, financial experts who give doctors financial advice, people who train MDs who have had students who went above and beyond to stand out.
If you have a source for any of these, please email me in a separate email with a subject line that makes it obvious what you are pitching for. Send client suggestions to: NCPajer@gmail.com
As a reminder, I read all of these submissions (and greatly appreciate them all) but don’t have the bandwidth to write back to everyone’s emails. I will be in touch if it’s a fit and I also file interesting ideas and sources that aren’t quite the right fit at the moment away in my inbox in case they fit a story down the line. Thank you in advance for sending them though.
Thanks and looking forward to hearing back from you.
